GEAR HOBS & FORM MILLING CUTTER
FHUSA-TSA hob cutters are produced in multi-axis CNC machines that incorporate the latest technology on profile grinding process. We use the best powder metallurgy steels (PM HSS) and make vacuum heat treatment in house, under an absolute process control. In addition, we strictly control roughness of the flanks and radii of the cutting edge, in order to maximise the performances and keep them optimal along all tool life.
Technical support: hob manufacturing during three generations
FHUSA brand was born in 1944 and accumulates an experience about hobs that few companies can boast of. Working with FHUSA-TSA does not simply mean having a supplier, but a partner to achieve technical solutions. The advice begins already in the quotation phase, always very detailed and with different options. It continues –in the event of an order- with a personalized project.
All new FHUSA-TSA hob drawings present a detailed study obtained in the finished part. If hobbing is prior to another operation (grinding, shaving, skiving…) both hobbed and final profiles are presented. Without any tool knowledge, clients can perfectly assess the result and give their approval or suggest some change.
FHUSA-TSA offers technical support for the determination of the working parameters and conditions. We adapt to the client’s priorities: performance, quality, endurance, economy, delivery time or any combination mentioned above.
Finally, we assist the clients in the maintenance of their tools (sharpening, coating, repair and modification) and we advise for the resolution of technical problems.

Form milling cutters are manufactured with the same technology as the gear hobs, but they are not used in hobbing machines. They have no lead angle and no starts, and they do not work by profile generation. They are mounted on milling machines up to multi-task machining centres. They exactly copy tool profile on the part.
